Organization holds event for awareness
Alpha Xi Delta Sorority will hold it’s annual Chili Feed and Cook-off Nov. 14 at the Eagles Club from 5 to 7 p.m.
The event raises funds for Autism Speaks. Autism Speaks is a national philanthropy that is dedicated to funding research into the causes, prevention, treatments and cure for autism. Autism Speaks looks to increase awareness of autism spectrum disorders while advocating for the needs of individuals with autism and their families.
The Chili Feed includes a meal provided by Alpha Xi Delta, raffle prizes and a chili cooking competition.
The eight teams competing in the cook-off include: Alpha Phi Sorority, Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity, Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, Sigma Nu Fraternity, The Volante, honor society Omicron Delta Epsilon as well as two community member teams.
People will be able to sample the different chilies and vote on their favorite. The winner of the cook-off receives a $100 prize.
Tickets to the event are $5 and will be sold at the door.
