QuickHits: Coyote swimming and diving teams fall to Green Bay at the DakotaDome over weekend
VERMILLION, S.D.— South Dakota men’s and women’s swimming and diving suffered setbacks at the hands of Green Bay at the USD Pool in the DakotaDome. The men lost 149-89 and the women lost 148-95.
The Coyote women won four of 13 events. Mariah Anderson, Shannon Moceri, Hannah Veselik and Kaitlyn Jefferson opened the meet with a victory in the 4×100-meter medley relay, finishing in 4 minutes and 32.43 seconds.
Megan Chmielewski, Moceri and Jefferson brought home individual event victories for South Dakota. Chmielewski score 262.49 on the 1-meter board. The mark is 19 points shy of the NCAA qualifying mark. Moceri won the 100 breaststroke in 1:14.17 and Jefferson the 50 freestyle in 27.87.
Colin Krysl came up with the lone win for the USD men, winning the 100 butterfly in a lifetime-best 58.74. Krysl added a second-place finish in the 200 individual medley as well. Blake Frederick (Lincoln, Neb.) took second in the 400 and 800 freestyle.
Swimming and diving will participate in the Border Battle hosted by Wisconsin Stevens-Point.
