Blog: Drama Llama Apocalypse

Some of you may know them as drama queens but personally, I like to call them drama llamas. It helps me remember that at the end of the day, these kinds of people are not to be taken seriously.

Who can take llamas seriously? I can’t, especially when they’re spewing useless gossip and other sorts of information that I feel quite literally turns my brain into mush.

Yet, I feel that by the end of this blog, I may have become one of them; I can slowly feel my brain chemistry changing and find myself thinking things that are really not important, are vital to my existence. Maybe in these instances television is to blame? Sitcoms and television dramas that are packed to the brim with horribly exaggerated and outlandish situations are still somehow hilarious and captivating to the audience. Still, in the back of our minds, we have to know that most of these things don’t happen in real life, or at least not very often. Life, after all, is no sitcom, as much as we’d like it to be. Personally, I wouldn’t mind living the life of “2 Broke Girls”.

I’ve been scratching my brain and I cannot find any good, reasonable explanation as to why these drama llamas exist. Maybe they’re there to remind us how silly we can be or to remind us of what’s really important. Maybe they actually do serve some sort of good to our society. Maybe they have no purpose and they’re just some kind of universal abnormality. All I know is that if I’m pulled into this world of drama llama-ness, I may just have to check myself into a hospital.

Coming into college, I thought people who were over the pettiness of high school would surround me, but apparently the rest of my life is just going to be one long high school experience. So what can we do about it? We can avoid the people who have excessive drama in their lives. This can be harder than it sounds, especially if one of your closest friends can be a little bit over dramatic. We can distance ourselves from the drama and just show not interest in the situation whatsoever.

If these things don’t work, the only solution may be to become a hermit and hide in your dorm room. All you can do is embrace the drama, or “embrace the chaos” as one of my closest friends say.

I feel like I’ve successfully made no sense at all.
