Shhh….Coyotes to play a ‘Silent Night’

University of South Dakota fans are saddling up for the Coyotes’ ‘Silent Night’ event as the men’s basketball team takes on Kansas City today at 7 p.m. in the DakotaDome.

In ‘Silent Night’ fashion, USD fans are asked to remain silent until the Coyotes score their 12th point, when they can burst into loud cheers for the rest of the game.

The ‘Silent Night’ concept is new for USD, but the tradition is nearly two-decades old for Taylor University fans in Upland, Ind.

This is USD’s first game since outscoring rivals South Dakota State Jan. 5, and the Coyotes (7-10, 3-2 Summit League) will be facing off against the Kansas City Kangaroos (4-12, 1-4 Summit), a team they topped last season 76-57 in Kansas City, 79-63 in Vermillion.
