Faces to Know: James Abbott
The University of South Dakota has many great faces around campus. From the Student Government Association to the Faculty members and USD President, these are important faces to know for future help and for general conversation. James Abbott, Kim Grieve, Erik Muckey and Clay Hoffman not only play important roles on campus, they also serve as another friendly face at USD.
USD President James Abbot
What he does:
“Most of my days are taken up by meetings about one thing or another, but I try to get around campus as much as possible to say hello to kids and talk to students and see how they’re doing. I try to attend as many events as possible, from football to theatre, to soccer, to basketball, and all the way around.”
What’s new this year:
“I’m spending a lot of my time this year fundraising, because we are right now trying to complete the funding of a new basketball/volleyball arena with some significant academic space for kinesiology and sports science. Also, we’re trying to build a track and field complex, so I’m heavily involved in that. I’m also waiting with interest to see the addition to the MUC completed, hopefully during the first part of the new semester.”
