Letter to the Editor: State of women proves shocking
This report shows that 14.5 percent of women and girls in South Dakota live in poverty, and that 48.6 percent of Native American women in South Dakota live in poverty. The report shows that South Dakota ranks 43rd in overall economic, leadership, and health rankings. Overall, it is a disturbing report that highlights the low status of female pay, leadership positions and health rankings in our state.
I hope that more women keep pushing and advocating for better pay, more leadership responsibility, and access to affordable, quality healthcare in South Dakota.
Myself, I will continue to advocate for women issues as a student senator on SGA here at USD. I will continue to help those that work to improve these terrible statistics here in our State.
