USD endowments break into top 25 percent of national ranking

The University of South Dakota’s Foundation ranked in the top 25 percent in endowment earnings compared to 835 colleges and universities across the country.

The 2013 survey puts the USD Foundation ahead of other participating South Dakota colleges and universities, according to a report by the  National Association of College and University Business Officers.

The USD Foundation saw an increase in return, from an average of 11.7 percent to 15.9 percent reported for the 2013 fiscal year.

USD was named 300th in the national ranking. The total study consisted of participating institutions that represented $447.2 billion in endowment assets as of June 30, 2013.

“The volunteer leadership of our investment committee is the reason we’ve outpaced our national peers,” said Steve Brown, USD Foundation president and chief executive officer.
