Be sweet and bold for V-Day

This Valentine’s Day, combine sugar with spice to create a one-of-a-kind look.

Now, there are some people who are all for Valentine’s Day, who live and breathe for this day to see who admires them.

Others couldn’t despise another holiday more, posing questions like ‘Why do you need a specific day to tell someone you love or care about him or her? Shouldn’t they do that year-round anyway?’

There are others still who simply hate it, because they don’t have a significant other to share it with, which is no need to get upset.

A little-known fact — you can still have a good time with your friends to celebrate.

Try starting a tradition of picking each other’s outfits, either at the mall or from your own closets. Get dolled up with hair,  makeup and nails. Go out together.

Experiment fun nail designs and techniques (hint: Pinterest is fantastic for ideas), and if you mess up, it won’t be the end of the world since they would most likely be for that single day.

Go daring with a touch of red lipstick or stick with a simple lip-gloss. Test out a new smokey eye or shadow, and don’t forget the rosy blush.

Either way you lean, the loving or loathing of Valentine’s Day, it can still be an exciting excuse to dress up and wear something you normally wouldn’t.

Black and white pieces combined with reds or pinks can make for a chic and timeless look.

If you find yourself dressing girlier, check out some lacey dresses in red or even white. Go all-out with hearts or polka dots and sweet touches like ruffles or bows to add to the outfit.

I’m not saying trudge across campus for class in heels, but if you do go out to dinner that night,Glamour magazine would suggest metallic or glittered flats, both I would consider doable options.

Don’t be afraid to mix in a bit of edginess to go with your sweet, in the form of leather or gold studs or denim.

Try dressing up a favorite sweater to stay warm with trendy accessories or pair some bright pants with a chambray shirt in an effortless way.
