Quest for the Perfect Midi Rings
My search for the perfect set of midi rings — or above-the-knuckle or stacking rings — started and ended in Chicago over my spring break.
I went into the trip not wanting to spend a fortune, but knowing there would really be no way around buying lunches and suppers. Along with a morning stop for Starbuck’s or Dunkin Donuts coffee, it was essential to get the true Chicago cuisine experience.
This left some money for souvenirs but did not leave much in my student bank account for superfluous shopping.
Michigan Avenue proved to be a test for me with its seemingly endless shops and stores nonexistent in South Dakota.
After stepping into one store, I knew I had to have a focus in mind so I could be on the lookout for that one and only item.
I had to choose between buying the embellished or the basic. Being so indecisive, I even went to the extent of asking the males with me what they thought would be a better choice.
It took some time searching through stores, but it did not take as long as I expected. I found the ring set I was destined to have.
The assortment pack I opted to purchase offers multiple possibilities to transform finger accessories to suit different styles.
Around 16 rings —which seems like a lot, yes —came in the collection I chose with two sizes. Unfortunately, I found the bigger size was too big, something I should have realized in the store when trying them on. They slip right off of my thin fingers, even my thumb.
For future reference, sets do come in various sizes.
While I don’t believe my sister’s boyfriend understands the style, as he commented on how they do not even fit my fingers, my dad would more than likely be confused and say the same.
Some people just don’t and won’t get it.
The trend is appealing since it doesn’t take much effort but adds a bit of glamour to a look. It is a smaller way to add a statement or make into a signature style piece.
I cannot say there is any certain number of rings a person should wear or any particular fingers they should be worn on. There really is no rhyme or reason to the arrangement.
If going for a simpler look, no need to worry; basic, unembellished ring sets are out there in silver or gold.
Although the windy city upheld its nickname and Vermillion ended up receiving warmer weather, I proved it is possible to stick to a shopping budget on vacation.
