Celebrate Dakota Days safely, responsibly
For the 100th Dakota Days, school spirit is more alive than ever.
Throughout The Volante, we have highlighted a few activities students and anyone partaking in the week should take advantage of, and some we should not.
More than anything, our homecoming is about having fun and coming together one week out of the entire year and celebrate.
Do go to the game and support your classmates. Do attend the evening events with your friends and take a minute to just have fun. Do sport your Coyote gear throughout the week and be sure to have fun responsibly.
But also keep in mind that there are precautions to take for yourself and your friends to ensure that you are enjoying yourself in a safe environment.
Bring a designated driver if you plan to drink. Always know where your drink is and who has access to it.
Know who is around you, and make sure your friends know where you are at all times.
Let’s take a minute to remind everyone that “Yes means yes,” and we have a responsibility to respect other’s boundaries.
Not only do we have a responsibility to respect sexual boundaries, but also other boundaries which include race, economic class, age, gender — the list goes on.

Part of enjoying and celebrating the week responsibly also means making sure everyone on this campus can do the same. Please take the time and consideration to be sure your celebration does not hinder or interfere with anyone else’s.
Keeping this idea of respect in mind, everyone can make the best of the week. Happy D-Days, and go ‘Yotes.
