Bond Set At $500,000 For Groton Man Accused In Drug Bust
ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) — A judge has set bond at half a million dollars for a Groton man accused of threatening a witness in a drug bust.
Judge Richard Sommers said he believes 45-year-old Timothy Thurston is a flight risk and a threat to a key witness in the drug case.
Thurston was arrested in December after authorities said they found 7 pounds of marijuana worth about $50,000 during a search of his farm and business. The American News reports ( ) that Thurston now is accused of seeking someone to do harm to a witness in the case.
Thurston’s attorney said in court on Wednesday that he does not think his client will be able to post the bond amount.
