Man Arrested After Spitting, Striking SD Police Officers
MITCHELL, S.D. (AP) — A 20-year-old man has been arrested after spitting, cursing and striking police officers who were looking into a trespassing report.
Sgt. Joel Reinesch tells The Mitchell Republic ( ) that Joshua Eagle was “highly intoxicated” when officers found him leaning against a fence in Mitchell. Reinesch says Horned Eagle was reported to be trespassing on a property.
Reinesch says Horned Eagle kicked and spitted at the officers when he was placed in handcuffs. Reinesch adds Horned Eagle continued to fight “all the way to the jail” where he had to be placed in a restraining chair due to his behavior.
Horned Eagle is facing charges of assault on a law enforcement officer, obstructing a law enforcement officer and spitting on an officer. It’s unclear whether the Mitchell man has an attorney.
