Man Convicted Of Vehicular Homicide In Pickstown Accident

LAKE ANDES, S.D. (AP) — A judge has convicted a man accused of driving under the influence and killing two U.S. Fish and Wildlife researchers in Pickstown more than 18 months ago.

Ron Fischer Jr. was found guilty last week of two counts of vehicular homicide, misdemeanor DUI, marijuana possession and ingesting. He was found not guilty of first- and second-degree manslaughter charges.

KELO-TV ( ) reports Fischer was high on marijuana and driving drunk at nearly three times the legal limit when he fatally struck 25-year-old Maegan Spindler and 46-year-old Rob Klumb on July 8, 2013.

Sentencing for Fischer is scheduled on March 23.
