MITCHELL, S.D. (AP) — The Mitchell School District is considering selling naming rights to various parts of a proposed $13.5 million fine arts center.

The Daily Republic newspaper reports ( ) naming rights for the building will go for $3 million. The school also might sell naming rights to the auditorium for $1 million, to a black box theater for $250,000, to practice rooms for $100,000 each and to remaining rooms at $25,000 each.

Superintendent Joe Graves says the idea is to reach people or businesses who might be interested in supporting the project that the district is funding with capital projects money. He says the district has raised about $130,000 in private donations so far.

The district hopes to award construction bids this month and have the center open for the 2016 school year.
