Pierre To Seek More Time To Comment On City’s Air Service
PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — Pierre city commissioners plan to once again ask the federal Transportation Department for more time to comment on air service.
Pierre officials in November recommended Aerodynamics Inc. to provide flights through the Essential Air Service federal subsidy program. But federal approval is uncertain because of management questions surrounding the company.
Federal officials earlier this month granted the city’s request for more time to make comments, but the Feb. 28 deadline is nearing. KCCR radio reports that commissioners Tuesday night decided to seek another extension.
The city is sending a letter to the Transportation Department saying it supports the federal agency’s review process. The city also asks that it have two weeks to respond after the Transportation Department makes a final decision on the Aerodynamics application.
