RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) — Rapid City police have identified a 57-year-old man who they say was killed this week.

Police say they found the body of Rapid City resident Farrel Phelps around 12:20 a.m. Thursday morning.

Anthony ‘Tayshawn” Moses Smith, of Rapid City, was charged with second-degree murder Thursday evening.

Officers responded to a report of a disturbance shortly after midnight at a home on Signal Drive and found Phelps’ body inside. Authorities say Phelps and Smith both lived at 50 Signal Drive.

Preliminary autopsy results indicate that Phelps died of blunt force trauma to the head.
