SD Man Sentenced To 50 Years For Raping 6-year-old Girl

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — A Sioux Falls man convicted for raping his girlfriend’s 6-year-old daughter has been sentenced to 50 years in prison.

Twenty-five-year-old Emmanuel Pio was charged with first-degree rape. Authorities say the victim’s mother and Pio had been in a relationship for six years before the incident occurred. He is not the victim’s biological father.

The Sioux Falls Argus Leader reports (http://argusne.ws/1Kup2kw) that Pio asked the judge for mercy for the sake of his family. The victim’s mother told the court that Pio should not be alive.

Judge Susan Sabers said before sentencing Pio that she places the case on “the very worst end of the spectrum.”
