Yankton Hospital Launching $3.5 Million Renovation Project
YANKTON, S.D. (AP) — Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton is launching a $3.5 million renovation project that will take a year to complete.
The Daily Press & Dakotan newspaper reports ( ) that the project will update patient care rooms on the hospital’s surgical floor.
President and CEO Doug Ekeren says the project will make accommodations “much more comfortable” for patients, including converting some semi-private rooms to private rooms.
Ekeren says the continued shift from in-patient care to out-patient care means fewer beds are needed, allowing for the move to more one-bed rooms.
