The Aberdeen American News ( ) reports that schools in Groton, Warner, Ipswich and Faulkton have five music positions open.

Groton Area School District superintendent Joe Schwan says the district wasn’t expecting to have two openings for music teachers. He says one current teacher is retiring at the end of the school year and another one will leave the district to pursue work outside the education field.

Warner School District superintendent Michael Kroll says smaller districts have a difficult time finding music teachers because of the specialized nature of music.

Kroll says the district has so far received two applicants, but one of them already took another job.
