Sioux Falls Events Center Surpassing Revenue Projections

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — The Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls has made $1.1 million in its first six months of operation and is on pace to shatter annual income projections.

City Finance Director Tracy Turbak says revenue expectations for the first year were in the range of $1.3 million.

The new $117 million events center has seen more than 408,000 people attend 94 events since country singer Jason Aldean christened the venue last Oct. 3. Eleven events at the facility have sold out.

The Premier Center also generated $900,000 in sales tax revenue in the first six months.

Mayor Mike Huether says the strong attendance and financial results are proof that building the facility was the right move for the city.
