Copper Wire Worth $1,000 Stolen From Blunt Business

BLUNT, S.D. (AP) — Police are investigating the theft of more than 450 pounds of copper wire from Oahe Electric Co. in Blunt.

Copper is a target for thieves because it can be sold for scrap metal. Oahe Electric Manager Rodney Haag tells KCCR radio that the copper stolen from that business is worth about $1,000.

The company believes the theft happened last weekend. Someone broke open a door in a warehouse where the wire was stored.
