Rapid City Woman Credited With Helping Catch Mail Thief

RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) — A Rapid City woman who had her mail stolen is being credited with helping to catch a United States Postal Service employee who allegedly stole money, gift cards and other mail while working.

Authorities say Dennyce Korb took matters into her own hands and investigated what happened to gift cards she mailed to relatives after receiving little help from the postal service.

The Rapid City Journal reports that ( ) with some help, Korb investigated and found the transaction history of the cards. She then provided it a U.S. postal inspector, who used the information to track down the alleged thief.

As a result of Korb’s persistence, authorities have charged Daniel Newman with one count of theft of mail matter by officer or employee. He has pleaded not guilty.
