Fire Destroys Private Shed In Huron; Cause Of Blaze Unknown

HURON, S.D. (AP) — No one was hurt in an early morning fire that destroyed a private shop in Huron.

Assistant Fire Chief Howard Alter tells KOKK radio that the blaze began about 3:30 a.m. Monday. The cause wasn’t immediately determined.

Alter says the people who own the shop also live at the site. They were able to get a pickup truck and one of two semitrailers out of the building before getting to safety with their two dogs.

The Red Cross is helping them.

Alter says the shop blaze had some extra hazards for firefighters because there were small explosions caused by fuel, oil and welding tanks inside.
