State Drops Some Charges Against Federal Drug Ring Convict

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — State prosecutors have dropped the most serious charges against a woman whose boyfriend was killed during a botched robbery in Sioux Falls in December 2013.

The Argus Leader ( ) reports the Minnehaha County State’s Attorney’s Office is no longer prosecuting Faith Rasmussen on first-degree burglary and robbery charges stemming from the break-in that ended in the shooting death of drug dealer Jordan LeBeau.

Prosecutors had argued that Rasmussen played a role in the plot to rob her boyfriend. Authorities found thousands of dollars at LeBeau’s home during the investigation into the killing.

The state’s attorney’s office says some of the charges against Rasmussen were dropped after “essential witnesses” made statements “negating their credibility.” She still faces six counts of solicitation to commit a felony.

Rasmussen previously was sentenced in federal court to over six years in prison for her role in a drug ring.
