Herrick Man Pleads Guilty To Manslaughter Following Crash
PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — A 77-year-old Herrick man who was involved in a fatal car crash in May has pleaded guilty to a manslaughter charge.
The South Dakota Attorney General’s Office says Herris Lambley has pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree manslaughter.
Authorities say Lambley was driving a pickup truck in May and struck a car at a rural intersection on the evening of May 26. Twenty-four-year-old Herrick resident Steven Wheeler was driving the car and died at the scene.
Lambley suffered injuries that the Highway Patrol at the time called serious but not life-threatening.
Second-degree manslaughter is a class 4 felony punishable by up to 10 years in the state penitentiary.
Sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 24 at the Gregory County courthouse.
