With holiday food nearing, blogger vows to stay on track with fitness goals

Friends, it is my goal to make this week more productive on not only my wellness challenge, but also in all school-related things.

I dragged myself to a pitiful one workout class last week due to some poor time management skills. It seems that I’m falling into bad habits.

First, I’ll sit down in front of the computer to see what classes are being offered at the Wellness Center since they have a daily schedule on their website.

As I’m about to plug in “USD wellness center” in the URL, I think, “It’s been a couple hours since I checked Facebook, what if something crazy happened?!”

I quickly find myself navigating to various social media sites, ultimately discovering not a single exciting thing happened (unless you count angry rants and funny memes).

Don’t get me wrong, some of these updates are entertaining and make me laugh, but they are awfully time-consuming. The longer I put off looking at the Wellness Center classes, the likelihood of it happening becomes non-existent.

Now is not the time to get discouraged about working out. Holiday season is quickly approaching and I plan on burning off as much calories as possible in preparation for all of the delicious food I know I will consume.

I can say that adding workout classes to my fitness plan so far makes exercise less repetitive. It is fun to take a break from running on the treadmill or track. I am most looking forward to trying a class at the DakotaDome pool. It’s sometimes easy to forget that there is a pool on campus that students can use.

Wish me luck on the next few days. I started my Monday off with some treadmill and hope to keep the momentum going throughout the week. Let’s hope the weather stays this nice as long as possible.
