US Rep. Kristi Noem Raises $260K, Banks $1.3M For 2016 Bid
PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — South Dakota U.S. Rep. Kristi Noem has more than $1.3 million in the bank for her 2016 re-election bid against challenger Paula Hawks.
Federal reports released by Noem’s campaign show the three-term Republican congresswoman raised more than $260,000 in the third fundraising quarter, which ran from July through September.
Noem has steadily increased her victory margin in each election since she claimed South Dakota’s lone congressional seat from former Democratic U.S. Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin in 2010.
Hawks is a two-term state representative from Hartford. So far she’s the only Democrat running. Her campaign didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
The seats held by Noem and Republican U.S. Sen. John Thune will be up in the 2016 election.
