VCDC moving from Tech Center to downtown location
The Vermillion Area Chamber and Development Company (VCDC) will be relocating to downtown Vermillion this week.
In a statement released by the VCDC, the company plans to move from its current location at the Vermillion Technology Center across from Walmart to a building on Main Street.
Nate Welch, director of the VCDC, said the decision was based on the fact that “the move will make way for some work planned at the Technology Center to better accommodate the needs of possible future tenants.”
“Moving into the VTC was a great move for us as it allowed us to welcome Senscio Health Systems to the community, as well as utilize the VTC while we were marketing the building,” Welch said. “We look forward to moving back downtown until our facilities committee can consider long-term office options for the VCDC.”
The VCDC built the Vermillion Technology Center in 2013 after it announced a partnership with Twin Cities-based Eagle Creek Software Services. After the $4.2 million building was completed, the software company refused to move into the office space because of “agreement issues.”
A lawsuit between the VCDC and Eagle Creek is pending, after a summary of judgement hearing this past October resulted in both parties’ summary judgements being denied because of an ambiguous contract.
