Steinlicht and Novak victorious in presidential SGA race
Nathaniel Steinlicht and Michelle Novak have been named Student Government Association president and vice president for the 2016-2017 administration.
Incoming president Nathaniel Steinlicht said he’s enthusiastic to begin working in his new role.
“We’re really excited to start everything out … Cam and Anna ran a great campaign and it was a great race,” he said. “And we’re really happy to be elected.”
Steinlicht, a junior, credited the win to the pair’s efforts to speak with student groups.
“We worked our butts off getting to every student org on campus — anyone that would let us come speak, we went and talked to them,” he said.
SGA’s incoming vice president, junior Michelle Novak, felt the team’s victory was a matter of experience.
“We just had a lot of people that trusted in us and trusted in our experience and trusted that we would do the best thing for SGA and that’s why they voted for us,” she said.
Steinlicht’s opponent, junior Cameron Frentress, expressed disappointment in losing the race, but said his team did all that it could.
“(We’re) obviously a little disappointed, but it was a well-ran race by Nathaniel and Michelle,” he said. “(There was) not much more we could’ve done.”
His running mate, sophomore Anna Madsen, shared in Frentress’s disappointment at the loss.
“There’s obviously disappointment, nobody likes to lose, but Nathaniel and Michelle deserve it as much as anybody and (we’re) really excited and looking forward to what they’re going to do for SGA,” she said. “And we’re just thankful for all the experiences we had, all the people and students that we’ve met, because man, that’s just what it’s all about.”
