USD wins award for website redesign
USD has won an award for its redesigned website that it launched last March.
The university was awarded the Silver Addy Award from the South Dakota Advertising Federation for elements of advertising, digital creative technology and responsive design.
“Today’s students rely on their smartphones to search the Web, so it was really important for USD to create a website where every page can be easily viewed on mobile device or a tablet – as well as on a desktop computer,” said Tena Haraldson, director of USD Marketing Communications & University Relations, in a statement.
Howard Thomas, digital strategist for USD Marketing Communications & University Relations, said since the launch of the new website, mobile usage has risen 22 percent, while visitors accessing the admissions sections of the website on a mobile device has risen 29 percent.
Partners sharing in the award include the USD marketing department; USD Information Technology Services; New City, of Blacksburg, Virginia, which designed the site; and American Eagle, of Des Plaines, Illinois, which implemented the site.
