Volleyball team dominates Oral Roberts 3-1
The Dakota Days volleyball game was a success in the Sanford Coyote Sports Center Tuesday night. The Coyote women defeated Oral Roberts 3-1 at their home court.
The Coyotes dominated in the first set 25-13. The Coyotes had 18 kills total during the first set. The Oral Roberts Golden Eagles took the second set, the Coyotes trailing behind a mere 4 points to make the score 25-21, Oral Roberts.
The team had no issue taking the next two sets: the Coyotes took the third set 25-18 and 25-19 the fourth and final set. Junior Hayley Dotseth scored the final point.
USD totaled 66 kills for the game.
The star player of the night was Dotseth, who had 23 kills and 12 digs, which is a career high for her, according to GoYotes.com. Junior Kristina Susak had a good game as well, and had 14 kills and 8 digs. Sophomore defensive specialist Anne Rasmussen, who was recently namedSummit League Defensive Player of the Week, had the most digs at 17. Senior Meagan Kerns had 10 kills. Senior Brittany Jessen had 58 assists.
Oral Roberts, previously with their four-game win streak, also had high points during the game. Sophomore CeCe Madison had 17 kills and 7 digs. Senior Shelby Cox had 14 kills, and senior Laura Milos had 12 digs and 14 digs. Junior Tori Roe had 14 digs as well.
The Coyotes will travel to Omaha, NE, to face the University of Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks on Oct.7 at 5 p.m.
