Women’s tennis Concludes Fall season at ITA Regional Tournament
Women’s tennis concluded its fall season at the ITA Regional Tournament at the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex with matches from Friday to Monday.
Nine Coyotes competed at the event, five in singles and two doubles teams. Sophomore Habiba Aly won both of her qualifier matches. Aly defeated Ana Bjelica of Western Illinois 6-2, 6-0, and also beat Drake’s Kelsey Neville 6-2, 6-2. Aly then lost to Minnesota’s Tina Kreinis in the main draw, 6-3, 3-6, 6-2.

USD Sophomore Emma Tranberg, freshman Natka Kmoskova and junior Nanette Nylund lost in the qualifier section. Sophomore Jana Lazarevic lost her first match of the main draw.
Tranberg lost against UMKC’s Yana Grechkina, 6-1, 6-1. Kmoskova was defeated by Bradley’s Natalia Barbery, 6-2, 6-2. Nylund lost 6-4, 6-4 to UMKC’s Thanushree Vale.
Kmoskova and Lazarevic won their first doubles match, 8-2, against Romana Tarajova and Manuela Barriga of Southeast Missouri State. They lost their second match to Oklahoma State’s Catherine Gulihur and Marina Guinart 8-1.
Nylund and Tranberg also competed in doubles and fell 8-4 to Iowa’s Samantha Mannix and Sophie Clark.
