Men’s Basketball Starters and Others Enter the Transfer Portal
With the end of the 2024-2025 season, multiple players on South Dakota’s Men’s Basketball team are entering the transfer portal.
Guards Chase Forte and Dre Bullock were the first players to announce their entrance to the portal back on March 11.
This past season was Forte’s first year as a Coyote. He previously played at Northwestern State and Gulf Coast State. Forte averaged 17.9 points per game, with a season high of 31 points in the game against North Dakota on March 1, 2025. He was also named as the Summit League’s Defensive Player of the Year.
Forte has heard from multiple NCAA Division I schools since entering the transfer portal. Some of these schools include the University of Southern California, Baylor, Ole Miss and the
University of Miami.
This was also Bullock’s first year as a Coyote. He previously played at Niagara University, Louisiana Tech and Angelina College. Bullock had a season high of 31 points against Omaha on Jan. 29, 2025. He averaged 12.1 points per game.
Both players were considered seniors, but due to the JUCO ruling, they each get one more year of eligibility.
Two forward players for the Coyotes added to the portal this past Monday, March 24.
Redshirt freshman Oliver Kokal entered the transfer portal, as well as redshirt sophomore Jevon Hill.
Kohal didn’t play any minutes for the Coyotes this season. He attended Parkway Central High School in Chesterfield, Mo. While there, he had 1,186 career points, ranking seventh all-time in Parkway Central school history.
Hill has been with South Dakota for three years. After redshirting his freshman year, he went on to play in 25 games and started in four games last season. This 2024-2025 season, Hill had a career high of 18 points in the game against Randall on Nov. 25, 2024. In that same game, Hill had also had a career high with six rebounds and six three-point field goals made.
All four transfer portal players are currently unsigned. Forte is the only player that has revealed the schools interested in him.
