SD Senate, House To Iron Out Differences In Autism Bill
PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — The South Dakota Senate and House are going to work out differences in a bill that would help ensure insurance coverage for a key treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Senators moved Wednesday to go to conference committee to iron out the differences in the measure that would mandate to certain insurance plans to cover Applied Behavioral Analysis therapy.
The House amended the Senate version of the bill last week. The House changes increase the amount covered for younger children by thousands of dollars and expand coverage to include more therapists.
Supporters of the expanded bill say it would help parents better afford expensive treatments for children.
Representatives from insurance companies have supported the original bill, but have pushed back against the expanded version.
