Death swings more than just golf clubs

First-year Miles Death is a member of USD men’s golf team from Plymouth, Minn.
Death helped the USD men’s team to a third place finish at last week’s Erv Kaiser Invitational in Oxbow, N.D. He finished in a tie for 28th with a 23 over-par score of 239.
Sydney Mook: What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?
Miles Death: I’ll have to go with vanilla. I like to keep it simple.
SM: Who has been the biggest inspiration in your life?
MD: I would have to say my dad. He always plays golf with me and has been since I was younger.
SM: Nike or Adidas?
MD: Adidas.
SM: What is your favorite professional sports team?
MD The Minnesota Wild.
SM: What did you aspire to be when you grew up?
MD: I always dreamed of being a professional golfer.
SM: What are the biggest differences between high school and college golf?
MD: Definitely the level of competition, and also the courses are more difficult.
SM: What is your favorite word?
MD: Unreal.
SM: If you won the lottery, what would be the first thing you would buy?
MD: If I won the lottery, I would have to buy all new golf clubs.
SM: How did you get into playing golf?
MD: My mom and dad started taking me out to the course when I was around two years old and I would sit in the golf cart and watch them.
SM: What is your favorite snack?
MD: I think it’d be beef Ramen noodles. It’s not really a meal, but it’s still filling.
SM: What is your favorite song?
MD: “Old Alabama” by Brad Paisley.
SM: What is your favorite summertime activity?
MD: Playing a round of golf.
SM: What about favorite wintertime activity?
MD: It’s fun to play hockey during the winter.
SM: What is your favorite quote?
MD: ‘You miss 100 percent of the shots you don’t take.”’Wayne Gretzky said that.
SM: What is your dream car?
MD: I’m going to go with the Ford F-150.
SM: Do you prefer putting or driving?
MD: That’s hard, but I think I like putting better.
