Worker Injured In Mishap At USD DakotaDome Work Site

VERMILLION, S.D. (AP) — A construction worker was listed in critical but stable condition after falling about 30 feet at a University of South Dakota work site.

Vermillion Fire Chief Shannon Draper tells the Yankton Daily Press & Dakotan newspaper ( ) that the man was working on a steel girder Wednesday on a DakotaDome addition when the incident occurred. Draper says the man was harnessed, but the safety equipment failed.

Draper did not immediately identify the man. He was taken to a Vermillion hospital and then flown to a Sioux Falls hospital.
