YANKTON, S.D. (AP) — The southeastern South Dakota town of Yankton is set to host yet another international tournament this fall.
The American Cribbage Congress will host its 34th annual 2015 Grand National Tournament in Yankton in September. The town of approximately 15,000 last week just wrapped up an international archery tournament that brought in thousands of people.
Organizer Scott Kooistra tells the Yankton Press and Dakotan ( ) that people from 30 states have already entered to compete. The ACC has more than 7,000 members worldwide.
Kooistra started Yankton’s cribbage club two years ago and submitted Yankton as a possible tournament location three years ago.
He says he’s the only person to compete in all 33 Grand National Cribbage Tournaments since its inception and has directed tournaments in seven different states.
