Officials: Charges Pending In Fatal Hutchinson County Crash

PARKSTON, S.D. (AP) — Authorities say charges are pending in a crash Friday that killed a 52-year-old Parkston man.

The Department of Public Safety says the driver of a Buick Enclave struck an oncoming motorcyclist as he was attempting to pass a semi-truck he was driving behind. Officials say he first hit the motorcycle and then the semi about two miles north of Parkston.

The driver of the motorcycle died at the scene.

The two people in the Buick were trapped and had to be extricated. Both sustained serious, non-life threatening injuries.

The driver was of the semi was not injured.

Highway Patrol authorities are continuing to investigate.

The names of those involved have not yet been released.
