Wind Cave Seeking Public Comment On Park Management Plans
WIND CAVE NATIONAL PARK, S.D. (AP) — Wind Cave National Park is asking for public comments on a zoning and general management plan and an environmental assessment.
Park superintendent Vidal Dávila says the plan analyzes three action alternatives for the greater park area, four action alternatives for the Sanson Ranch area and three action alternatives for the existing visitor center area.
Dávila says the proposed alternatives focus on what resource conditions, visitor uses and experiences or opportunities could be at the park rather than on details of how these conditions and experiences would be achieved.
The comment period runs through Sept. 25.
Comments can be submitted through a website ( ), and printed copies of the assessment are available for review at the park’s visitor center and the Custer, Hot Springs and Rapid City libraries.
