Men’s basketball team chosen for ESPN airing; game set for February 18
University of South Dakota students will be able to attend the first ever ESPN Bracketbuster game for USD Feb. 18 at the DakotaDome as part of the recently announced Coyote Men’s Basketball 2011-2012 season.
A Bracketbuster game is an ESPN filmed game that provides basketball programs the opportunity to play quality non-conference opponents three weeks prior to Selection Sunday.
Junior Brett Vondra said he is looking forward to the ESPN Bracketbuster game in Feburary.
“I think it is pretty cool and something our small school should be proud of,” Vondra said. “It’s nice to see ESPN
recognize our it.”
The Coyote’s opponent and time of the game will be determined by ESPN in January.
Also during the season, USD will travel to Brookings on Jan. 12 to take on in-state rival South Dakota State.
The Coyotes will once again face off against SDSU when the Jackrabbits come to Vermillion on Feb. 9.
The Coyotes will also be tested throughout the year playing against two 2011 NCAA tournament teams Oakland and Morehead State as well as 2011 NIT qualifier Nebraska.
The Coyotes will play a full 18-game Summit League Conference schedule, but will not be eligible for the Summit League Championship Tournament until the 2012-2013 season.
