THE RANT: Dear students, faculty and staff
Dear students, faculty and staff:
As I attempt to write a rant for this week’s edition, I cannot seem to come up with anything to legitimately complain about or take a stab at. In light of the recent death of USD student Jeff Haeder, the miniscule things I could complain about appear very trivial amidst immense grief.
So I have nothing to complain about. All I can do is offer my sincere condolences to Delta Tau Delta, friends and family and applaud the way campus and the Greek community are dealing with the situation.
Throughout the past few days, I have witnessed a community laden with sorrow really pull together to support each other — and that’s the light in the middle of darkness.
The university has gone to great lengths to take care of its students, through offering counseling services and even providing busses to the prayer service and funeral. To have the university backing its students in such a way is a huge comfort and support, especially to the Greek community.
So thank you Dean James Parker, President James Abbott, Provost Chuck Staben and others who have done everything they can to help those left grieving.
Sincerely,
Josie Clarey, junior
