VERMILLION POLICE LOG: October 17
Oct. 9
1. VPD received a report of a juvenile male who was allegedly in possession of a handgun. Male was not brandishing or displaying handgun in a threatening fashion but caller believed him to be in possession of the weapon. Juvenile’s parents refuted claim. Complaint was unfounded.
Oct. 10
2. A residency at the 400 block of Lewis St. was reportedly struck by paintballs from a paintball gun. Police have no suspects or leads for the act of vandalism.
3. Police received a report of an aggravated assault that evolved from an Oct. 6 incident. A 36-year-old Vermillion man claimed he was assaulted near the 10 block of Court St. Victim claimed to have received severely disabling injuries that required several days of hospitalization. Police questioned several witnesses. Case is still under investigation.
Oct. 11
4. A 31-year-old Vermillion male was charged with trespassing at a residency at the 800 block of E. Duke St. Officers found the suspect hiding in a child’s closet at the residency after being contacted by the residents. The male was identified as a neighbor.
