SDSU administration releases name of deceased student

South Dakota State University officials have confirmed the death of sophomore Connor Noteboom, 19, according to SDSU’s student-newspaper, The Collegian.

Director of University Relations Mike Lockrem said the death was reported at 11:28 p.m. Tuesday, and occurred on campus, in Binneweis Hall. Noteboom’s floor mates found Noteboom in his room, and a coroner report indicated that he died from self-inflicted wounds.

SDSU’s Counseling Center was on hand last night providing grief assistance to floor mates of Noteboom, and Vice President for Student Affairs, Marysz Rames, told The Collegian that Student Affairs is working to help students deal with the death as they finish finals week.

Rames is also providing assistance to Noteboom’s family, who was notified of the death last night, and the Counseling Center is prepared for walk-in session for students in need of help to cope with the situation.
