USD history chair named interim Arts and Sciences Dean

Kurt Hackemer, chair of USD’s history department, was named interim Dean of the Colleges of Arts and Sciences in early January. He will start the new position on Feb. 27.

A search committee has been formed to find a permanent replacement for Matt Moen, Hackemer’s predecessor, who announced late last semester he would be leaving to become the president of the Gettysburg Foundation in Pennsylvania. The committee will be lead by Venky Venkatachalam, Dean of the Beacom School of Business.

Moen will assume his position at the Gettysburg Foundation in March.
