Editorial: Avoid having to complete homework over break
Thanksgiving break is just around the corner. It is full of tasty foods, fall decorations and family gatherings. It’s the time to have a huge meal and then lay around the rest of the day. Students get excited to finally sleep in and not have to worry about classes or assignments—or so they think.
Even if there is a break in the semester, some professors feel the need to assign homework to keep your brain working during the time not spent in class.
If you can get your assignments done before going home to spend time with your friends and family, do it. Don’t spend your break time cramming for finals or hiding in your room, avoiding family, to complete your homework.
Thanksgiving break should be a fun time for students, yet it’s in an awkward place with only a little bit of time left in the semester. If you’re a person who is on top of assignments and ready to face finals, this break is not going to be helpful. It will be annoying and suspenseful.

But it is one thing for students to take the initiative to get ahead. Thanksgiving break shouldn’t be used to catch up on missed or late assignments.
When classes, resume there will only be a little over a week left to study for finals. The worst is yet to come, so catch up on late work now.
Thanksgiving break should be the time to enjoy turkey, pie and awkward conversations with relatives you haven’t seen in a year. Don’t procrastinate by saying saying you’ll work on your assignments during the break. Get them done before leaving so you can properly enjoy the holiday.
