The USD tennis team picked up a pair of wins over the weekend at Northern Illinois Friday in DeKalb, Illinois and Western Illinois Saturday in Macomb, Illinois.

The Coyotes and Huskies split the singles matches Friday.

Northern Illinois sophomore Diana Lukyanova won the first flight singles over fifth year Habiba Aly winning 2-0.

Sophomore Anastasia Rakita beat USD’s redshirt junior Estella Jaeger in No. 3 singles. Rakita won 3-2 after Jaeger took the first set. Senior Christy Robinson took a win over USD’s senior Natka Kmošková in No. 6 singles.

For the Coyotes, fifth year Jana Lazarevic, freshman Bea Havlickova and senior Anna Marija Bukina picked up singles wins for the Coyotes winning 2-0, 3-2 and 2-0, respectively.

USD won the doubles point by sweeping the doubles matches Friday.

The combination of Aly and Lazarevic won their match 5-4. Marija Bukina and Jaeger won 6-4. Havlickova and Kmošková won the final doubles match 6-3.

USD won the event 4-3.

The Coyotes turned around Saturday to open Summit League play against Western Illinois. USD picked up a 7-0 sweep of the Leathernecks. The Coyotes didn’t drop a set against Western Illinois on the day.

Lazarevic and Aly won the first double event 6-4. Jaeger and Marija Bukina followed fellow Coyotes winning 5-2. Kmošková and Havlikova were next and they won their match 6-4.

With the two wins, the Coyotes record moves to 6-8 on the season and 1-0 in Summit League play.

The Coyotes have their first home matches of the season this week, as they host Denver and Kansas City Friday and Saturday at the USD Tennis Courts. The match Friday starts at 1 p.m. and Saturday’s game starts at 10 a.m.
