Transfer Tracker: Next Seasons Basketball Additions

As the offseason begins to take shape, the University of South Dakota’s basketball programs are retooling through the transfer portal. While the women’s team has brought in a quartet of newcomers, the men’s side has added one transfer guard ahead of the 2025-26 season.

The women’s team announced the signings of four players in the past two weeks: Alex Flattery, Katy Reyerson, Molly Joyce and Jenna Hopp.

Flattery, a 5-9 guard from Sioux City, Iowa, spent one season at Division II school Nebraska-Kearney. She played in 28 games as a freshman, averaging 4.5 points and 3.0 rebounds per game. She shot over 37% from three-point range and logged 17.9 minutes per contest.

With two seasons of eligibility remaining after spending two years at Northern Iowa, Reyerson, a 6-2 forward, joins the Coyotes. She saw action in 26 games, averaging just under eight minutes per game while shooting over 50% from the floor.

From the Great Lakes Valley Conference, Joyce, a 5-7 guard from Algona, Iowa, transfers to South Dakota after two seasons at Truman State University. As a freshman in 2023-24, she was named her conference’s Freshman of the Year after averaging 10.9 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. She followed that with a sophomore campaign that included second-team all-conference honors, leading Truman with 15.2 points per game and shooting 83.1 percent from the free-throw line.

Following two seasons at South Dakota State, Hopp, a 5-11 guard from Glenwood, Iowa, comes to South Dakota. She appeared in 22 games during the 2023-24 season, averaging 2.7 points and 2.4 rebounds while shooting over 47% from the field. Hopp was named Iowa Gatorade Player of the Year in high school.

On the men’s side, South Dakota adds Josiah Dotzler, a 6-3 guard from Omaha, Nebraska. Dotzler began his collegiate career at Creighton University, appearing in 19 games as a freshman during the 2023-24 season. He then transferred to Saint Louis University, where he played in three games in 2024-25. He brings two seasons of Division I experience to the Coyotes’ backcourt.

With the transfer portal still active, both programs are continuing to shape their rosters in preparation for the upcoming season. The men’s team has until April 22, and the women’s team has until April 23 to pursue transfer portal players.
