Swim & Dive Opens Up Season
The University of South Dakota Swim and Dive team opened their season on Saturday, Sept. 27, with their 20th annual “Red vs. White” swim meet. This swim meet is a special and unique type of event that allows the swim team to split into two teams, a red and white team, and compete against each other.
The previous Dome pool had limited opportunities when it came to training and racing. Now, the Swim and Dive team will be able to “go to the next level,” said Mahowald.
Mahowald’s main purpose for this Red vs White swim meet is for his athletes to work and fine tune all of the small details.
“The first meet here this weekend will be the first piece of that puzzle,” said Mahowald. He looks ahead into the upcoming season with lots of excitement and hopes of a conference championship in February, “but more importantly we are looking for everyone to try to perform at their best.”
The next upcoming swim meet for the USD Swim and Dive team is scheduled to be on Oct. 3 at 5 p.m. vs. Minnesota State and Augustana in Vermillion.
