Soccer Opens Up League Play With Win

The USD women’s soccer team kicks off the 2025 season with a 5-2-4 record, winning their first Summit League game against St. Thomas on Sunday.

A notable win for the team was back on Aug. 23 against Morningside. 

Another prominent win for the team was their first Summit League match of the season against Morningside on Sept. 28, winning 2-0. Gabbie Ryan and Ashby Johnson each contributed a goal for the win. 

Two notable players for the Coyotes include Klarissa Vega and Cambell Fischer. Vega leads the team in goals with six. She also has an assist, along with a shot percentage of 30 percent. Fischer leads the team in saves with 29, her save percentage totaling to 72.5 percent.

The upcoming Summit League schedule for the USD women’s soccer team includes three matches in the span of a week: North Dakota State on Oct. 2, North Dakota on Oct. 5, and Kansas City on Oct. 9.
