Columnist hopes bingo-style exercise program will induce a more fit lifestyle
I’m sure all of you have heard of the Wellness Center. It’s that place you say you’re going to go after one too many late-night fast food runs. You think, “tomorrow is the day I’ll start working out.” If you’ve been in this situation before but have not followed through with getting to the gym, now is the perfect time.
“Why?” you ask.
“Bingo.” I answer, because working out for the sole benefit of better health and more energy is just not enough.
If you’re still on the fence about trying a workout class, do not fear. I am going to be participating in Blackout Bingo and sharing my experience with you guys. My hope is that I see a few readers in some upcoming classes.
You won’t have a hard time finding me. I’ll be the one trying to hold in tears after the hundredth squat or fifth Zumba song. I’m doing this because I know those secret tears will pay off. I get the free chance to learn about different types of workouts and find out what kind of exercises I actually enjoy.
My “Blackout Experience” started today with Barre Basics. I couldn’t have picked a better first class for my bingo card. It was the perfect mix of ballet and cardio. I was pushed enough to sweat, but allowed time in between cardio blasts to catch my breath.
This was my first experience with any Barre class, so I didn’t know what to expect. When I walked in I was told shoes were optional and was immediately relaxed.
The next 40-50 minutes allowed me to get a great workout and also to concentrate on what I was doing. The instructor gave an equal amount of feedback and encouragement which made for an uplifting experience.
I’m excited to see what other types of workouts are out there and I will make sure to keep you updated on my experiences.
